A colorful exterior and an innovative interior for the metro of Salvador de Bahia
The agency MBD design was chosen by the operator Grupo CCR Via Quatro in order to carry out a design study for the vehicles of Line 2.
For this unique historical heritage city, MBD Design has not hesitated to offer a colorful exterior and an innovative interior.
The front end is imposed by its rounded shape and its bright and cheerful colors that give it an appearance at the same time elegant and dynamic.
The particular location of the seats, both longitudinal and transverse, has created an original design with a separate backrest of the seating and running like a headband throughout the faces. This arrangement breaks with the traditional image of the underground interiors, with an atmosphere inspired by the public bench or the sofa of the home habitat.
These positive values aim to promote the attractiveness of a more human and convivial public transport.
The continuous file also gives a visual unit to a space that could otherwise appear as chaotic and messy. As for the Assizes, they remain independent and clothed in order to delimit the individual spaces.
The organization of the space dedicated to seated passengers is found at the level of the ground by being visually demarcated by a different hue.
Some refined details like the lighting of the platforms and the graphic decoration of the ceiling focus attention and complete the sensation of a Metro concerned with the well-being of its users in terms of travel experience.
The manufacturer tender was won by the Korean manufacturer Hyundai Rotem.
The first oars were inaugurated in December 2015 and the subway should be ready for the Summer Olympics.
